Music video analysis; Of monsters and men - Little Talks

This video is rather unusual as it appears to make it seem as though they are in a different world, because of the surreal feeling it creates. The video is very useful in telling the story of the song and is easy to follow along with the lyrics. As many other artists have done, it also demonstrates the woman as being stronger than the men who struggle through their journey, she is able to fight of the massive creatures which appear, showing her to be quite fearless, of which we would usually assume she would have no chance of survival, but instead it challenges this and she saves the men. This video can also be compared to their other videos as they all follow the same theme of black and white, unusual world setting.

Music video analysis; Adele - Someone like you.

In this video Adele is walking down the streets of Paris, this is shown in black and white. This is very effective as it allows us to compare her video to those such as the Sinead O Connor 'nothing compares to you' which shows short scenes of her walking the streets of London. From this we can assume that Adele took inspiration from her video, and therefore used similar characteristics because Sinead's music video was such a success she wanted her to also be successful.

Finding the right music.

In order to find the correct music suitable for our project, we will use websites including www.unsigned.com www.myspace.com and www.youtube.com. We will contact the artist by sending an email requesting permission of use or by contacting them through their website. We will need to inform them that our project is to make a music video of which we must find appropriate music which we would like to use. 

Non - copyright music

Copyright is the exclusive legal right, given to an originator or an assignee to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic. It is important because it stops the work of record labels being stolen from others and used for different purposes, it stops others from being able to call it their own. It could create potential problems for us during our project as we will not be able to use certain music that we may wish to. This means we are going to have to find an unsigned artist for our project, this is because we will be able to get permission to use the music where as for the artists who are already signed, we cannot. 

Favourite music video

Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap is my favourite music video as it is parallel to the song, it allows you to feel as if you are on a journey to success and hope with the light at the end. It also has the band playing at the sides of the video, this is effective as it adds to the song, allowing the emotions of the song to be found.

Brief.

- a music 'promo' video
- up to 5 minutes
- either working individually or in a group of up to four members.

Also need to produce:

- a 'digipak' (six panels) for its release on CD
- a magazine advertisement for the digipak
